Targa top interchange ?

Hi everybody,

This is my first thread here.

I have 1996 LT1 coupe / metallic purple. I have restored the car from chasis to the top. Now the last part is glass and locks.

The original top was missing and all I could found is first design (84-86) top. I have the correct 96 mountings on the frame. Is there a chance to convert early tops to fit late design mounting tabs?

Should I look for 84-86 design mounting tabs? or work on the top connection parts?

Yes you can change to the early style , but why?

If you have restored it put the correct top on.

I wouldnt go with Thompson if I were you.:bash I did and they are vastly inferior to OEM. They poorly refurbish the frames they receive in exchange. Paint came off a corner of mine the DAY I put it on! They added a sticker to the inside above the mirror with their name that removed paint when I removed it.
They use a cheapo weatherstrip at the edge that pulls off (my original oem one had metal edge) -where you put the top in the rear brackets.
The rear inch of the top doesnt have the OEM blackout tint so you see the metal bracket from the outside.
All in all a very poor substitute for OEM!
Wish I had just spend the extra $ and bought OEM

I live in overseas and its hard to find parts here, also shipping kills

My Oem one is missing. All I could find is the early style. But I ll check e bay to catch an OEM one.
