'Tarnite' is the absolute best for chrome, SS, etc...

Ive tried all the expensive polishing products like Maas, SemiChrome, Wenol, etc...but this stuff in a litle can, is the tops. It is a cleaner/polish . The instructions say to apply it and leave it on for a few minutes then wipe off...but, ive experimented on the time period, and find that 1 hour works best. I could not believe the tarnish that it removed off of my chromed windshield wiper actuator and ralley wheel trim rims. Ive tried it out on my front and rear light lenses too, and it does a very good job on plastic as well. You dont have to rub it hard ; you just apply it gently , then wait. Then remove with a dry terri cloth . You can find it at hardware stores. I think it ran about $3-4 . Incredible stuff. Im so delighted , that i wanted to tell my fellow Corvetters it.

Does it work on aluminum such as valve covers? Does it get surface rust off of trim rings? I have one trim ring on my rally's that has some surface rust on it.

I used it on my trim rings and they shined up the best ive seen so far. I cant say ive used it on surface 'rust' per se...but it took care of some heavily soiled tarnish on chrome and aluminum. I used it on my plastic lenses and they gleam now. I think whatever you apply it to, is going to look much much better. Ill try and find some surface rust on my car and give it a try.
