This afternoon I picked up the new alternator and when I went to remove it, I could not quite figure it out - Now on the Callaway B2K's the factory tensioner is replaced w/ the oil pump for the turbos - that's why I don't want to bulldoze my way through this...

I know the belt has been off before as it is virtually new :) but I have not had the pleasure of working on this cars accesories yet;)

Thanks in advance for the help :beer

Belt

Chris the oil pump is the tensioner back in august I used a broomstick to put pressure on the tensioner on Kevins car to change the alt. You install it like a regular serpentine belt .

Pete - Thanks!! So you say, no bolts to put a wrench on?? I know the stock one, you just put a breaker bar into the hole - other GM vehicles we have used a small socket on a bolt - But then again, this is no ordinary Supercar :upthumbs

Well at Carlilse we did not have a full set of tools. So we improvised. I used the broom stick to apply pressure to the tensioner. and also did not tighten the alt all the way till the belt was on. It made it a little easier. Anything else drop me a ring.

Chris, I just did this. I just pushed down on the top feed line by hand and then slipped the belt off. If you can't get enough slack then you can always loosen the alternator and let it move in, then go back to the tensioner.

As I recall, It was a mop that Pete "borrowed" from the maid's closet at the hotel. :D

Very innovative and worked perfectly! He got me back on the road that day. :Steer

Thanks for ALL the input :)

Folks - it worked :beer

Tonite, w/ guidance & help from Turbo Joe, we pushed down upon the tensioner and were able then, to back out the alternator bolts (w/out fears) and pop the belt, swap the alternator & fire the B2K right up :upthumbs

It was absolutely a TWO person job as others had mentioned - I do appreciate all the input here :)
