Tech questions on replacement difficulties...

this post kinda goes along with what I already posted...I was wondering how difficult it is to change the rear gears, also I was wondering if anyone reading this post had done a 700-r4 tranny swap and if you would happen to have any how to's or some pictures or anything would be great this would all be for a 81 corvette...I will be attending a tech college for autobody so this winter the car is going to be repainted and I was thinking about a student loan and redoing alot of the drive train as well because I am right next door to the auto mechanics and they always need stuff to work on.

Gears are not really hard to change. What is hard is getting them set up correctly. (pinion depth & backlash). I have done several & it helps to have some specialized tools. It is probobly best to let a professional do the install. It can be a frustrating experience to spend alot of time doing it & have them whine because you did'nt get the setup right. As for the 700r4 swap it should'nt be too difficult, although I have never done it before. Maybe someone has some experience in this area.
