Just wondering what you folks run temp wise on your guage? My 69 seems to be running at about 160 degrees, It takes forever to move up from 100degrees to a readable area.Is there a problem with my guage or is it just running cool? Hate to have a wrong reading and do some damage to the motor.

Have you checked the thermostat? A bad one can cause long warm ups, which is what I hear you saying here. If that doesn't fix the problem you might want to consider taking it to a place that can use a gun to read the actual temp and compare it to the gauge.

seems to be circulating well enough, looks as though the motor had a recent rebuild but unsure when though? I just picked up new coolant and am going to service the cooling system ,I planned on changing the stat also. Don't believe this to be the issue though.Had the car running for about 2 hours the other day and drove it for 1 hour and Temp was real low,I am wondering about the guage or the sensor being bad.

Mine runs cool too, depends on stat and opening temp if all else is good. In TX summers long idling in traffic raises temp, but not dangerously.

I recently experienced a problem with the tempture gage not going beyond 100 degree's. After checking the thermo and wiring and found the connection inside to be the problem. On my 81, the center wiring printed circuit had bent at the point where you plug in the wiring harness. I readjusted the circuit (ha ha) and presto, normal 190 degree reading. Hope this helps.

Pappy,
It has been fairly cool even here in TX and mine is doing the same as yours.
I can fire her up, run down the street to the store and back (20 min) and she never moves past 160....
Now get her out in traffic on a warm day and she'll see 200 easy.

My drive home is about an hour and she will cool off a bit once I'm in clean air and getting it. Everythign appears to be OK once she heats up.

Try yours on a good 45 minute drive if it ever thaws up there and see what she does...
