I have posted a thread on a possible tranny swap to the 700R4.I have found out this could be quite expensive.I still might do it but I wanted to know if there are any modifications I could make to my current Tranny the TH350.If I had it sent out to be rebuilt is there anything I could have modified to give me better off the line grunt?

You can do a first-class swap to a 700r4 or a 200-4r for under $2K -- labor included. If you do it, you will never, ever regret it (unless you sell the car)...

If you want off-line grunt from the TH350, install a higher-stall torque converter, and perhaps 3.70 or 4.11 rear gears. But that will ruin your highway driving pleasure. And it would take money away from your 700r4 fund!

Thanks for the info,I want the 700R4 but a guy I talked to at the local Corvette shop told me it was very expensive.Especially when I told him a have a California 80 with the CCC computer. My car originally came with the 305 engine. In truth I haven`t got any exact $$ on the swap yet but believe me if it`s anywhere close in price I`m going with the 700R4.:grinshot

You should also have a shift kit installed in the TH350 if you haven't already. That will have it shift harder and firmer. This will not help off the line, but it will in the firmness of the shifts.

Send an email quote request to Bowtie Overdrives www.700r4.com -- they're in California and should be familiar with your setup.

And quite frankly, "Manny's Tranny Shop" can install one of these. You don't need to spend big bucks -- that's baloney. Just make sure that whoever installs it gets the TV cable right.

This thread was started by Chiphead and involves the conversion at a shop in your area, though pricier than earlier quoted in this thread. I though there was another post involving a Sacto Vette that was less but I couldn't find it.
