Well...since my tranny that is not doing to well helped throw a rod and blow the engine, Id like to swap out the tranny at the same time as the new engine is going in.
I am looking at the Richmond 6 speed. I can have one of these for free (Relative has a brand new one that they are never going to use, were gonna trade) I have heard different things. Ive heard that you need to modify the floorpan, however, I spoke to someone at Richmond and they said this is not true...and also theyre instruction sheet for installing a 6speed into the c3 sayd no floorpan modification is needed. I know I will have to modify the crossmember. What about Driveshaft? Am I going to have to cut the driveshaft or what?
Also I hear the pedals is the hardest part. Im looking for someone who has experience swapping in a richmond or at least a manual. What is needed...just the clutch/brake pedal assembly from a c3? I know this is supposed to be a difficult process...but is it skill intensive, or just labor intensive? I will admit my experience is not very great...but Id like to learn.
After all was said and done, how much (Besides the cost of the tranny) did it cost you for all the fabrication of the crossmember and stuff? Is there anything I am overlooking that I will need to get for this swap to work?
Were you happy with the new setup? I guess I could just throw in a new th350...but the richmond is basically free...
