I just wanted to thank everyone for their help picking tire/rim sizes for my 71. My plans for 17 inch rims fell apart due to poor availability and backorders on TTII's, Boyd Codington Smoothie II's, discontinued Edebrach 409's etc. So I decided to stay with the stock 15 inch ralleye's. I wanted 255/60/15's but was worried about rubbing/clearance.

Therefore I just put 245/60/15's on and they look and feel great. A huge improvement over the 20+ year old fiberglass/bias ply G70/15's. They really are a great fit.

One final question. Is there anyone out there that thinks the old bias ply's are worth anything or should they just go in the trash? They're not originals just replacement tires the guy before me put on the car but I just thought I'd ask before they were gone for good.

Thanks again everyone.

Way to go Whip.........now I can come visit you and try the 245's on the front of mine to see if I can eliminate the rub....

As for the bias ply's, they'll probably end up like the tires I took off mine. Been in the back of the pickup truck for months..........

If you can, post a pic of the ride showing the side profile, just wondering if the 245's fill out the wheel wells.

Hey Cee, your welcome to come by any time to try the fit. I haven't taken any digital pics yet I've been too busy driving around today!

I'll get some pics up soon. I think they fill the wheel well nicely.

My only concern is the wheel alignment I got today. I'm not sure I'm happy with it. I'm going to drive around a bit more to see what I can see.

Cee, just let me know when you'd like to stop by.

Thanks Whip,
I'm dying to see that ride. I am a gray fanatic. My first ('81) and third ('88) were both gray and I tried like hello to get my wife into the Spiral gray '04 but she wanted white instead.Right now my beast is in the air, rear end is out from under it. Waiting for some parts this week, then it's another week or so of sandblasting, painting and then re-assembly.
I'm surprised I haven't seen you around town or maybe I have. I see quite a few MY's heading to and from work in Southlake/Grapevine.
I'll shoot ya an e-mail when I'm ready to cruise. Thanks for the offer of swapping wheels for a quick look see.....wish I could have doie that before I bought them!

Later....

Cee
