The BG Plant Starts Re tooling for C6 on....

December second 2003. The plant tours have also been suspended indefinitely after 12/02/03. What this means folks is that Saleable C6s could be rolling off the line at BG as early as mid Feb. 2004!

You may also want to check the NCM site sometime they list the Plant tour information and dates the plant is closed. Im not sure if they will list information into Dec. as of yet.

Being told the plant is closed in no way means that production on the C6 has started.:confused

Yeah, the C6 will be different looking than the C5. It will be the first redesign since the '97 model year. Browse through the "2005 C6 Forum" and I think you'll find that there's alot of passion and enthusiasm about what the thing will look like, what it will have inside, under the hood, etc. There are a few photoshops and spy shots, too.

Well it does mean the re tool process has started and pieces of C6 will be hither and yon all over the plant for tour people to see while its taking place. Hence they close the plant to the public. I know for a fact the plant will start re tooling and bringing in C6 parts into the plant for production in early Dec. of 2003.

I agree. IMHO, all signs point to an abbreviated '04 MY and a lengthy MY intro for the C6. GM knows the C6 will be a tremendous seller. And, will take advantage of the opportunity for tremendous profits. Anyone, remember the the intro MY of the '84 C4 i.e., a very long model year and over 51,000 units sold.

Tom,

Only reason it runs to Dec 31st is becuase the list you have is only for the 2003 Model Year. If it were including Christmas break, it would run into 2004, probably the 2nd or 3rd of January. When the offical tour schedual is released for 04, you will see that the break continues past Dec 31st.

This does not mean the workers will not still be there working, it just means the public will not be allowed to participate in any tours during that time.
