I bought my first corvette last July, a 2002 black ZO6 w/66K. It's my daily driver and I've had the jingly sound all the time after it's hot. From everything I've read I have all the symptoms indicative of the exhaust crossover turbulence problem. However, I'm worried that it's something worse in the engine or drivetrain rattling loose or spinning. And now, all of a sudden, for some strange reason the "jingly" noise seems to have disappeared on it's own over the last week.

The car has undersize tires on it for some reason, P255/40ZR17 and P285/35ZR18. I was wondering if this miniscule decrease in overall height would have anything to do with the "service traction", "service ABS" and "service active handling" warning lights.

My codes are: TCS1214, TCS1293 and LDCM2284.

The warranty campaigns that have been performed are:
08/11/2005 243093 # V1145 - 04006 - PERFORM REPROGRAM AND FUNCTIONAL TEST - MANUALS ON 45007 miles
07/21/2003 197173 # N2829 - RELAY - ENGINE WIRING - REPLACE 20379 miles
03/03/2003 188839 # N0110 - BATTERY - ONE - REPLACE 15591 miles
01/13/2003 186525 # R4060 - FUEL TANK FILLER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT 15001 miles
07/08/2002 246432 # E7200 - IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT 7899 miles
07/08/2002 246432 # N2320 - IGNITION AND START SWITCH REPLACEMENT 7899 miles
04/03/2002 274917 # N6600 - WIRING AND/OR CONNECTOR - BRAKE SYSTEM/TRACTION CONTROL - 1433 miles

Thank you very much for any forthcoming advice.

The "jingle" is an "annoyance" issue not a performane issue but...if you have the exhaust jingle (which was the subject of a service bulletin) it won't just go away on it's own.

As for your service lamps....it is possible that a large disparity in tires sizes of what's fitted to the car vs. what the ABS/TCS controller expects can cause the "service" light to come on, however, that's not the problem with your car

DTC C1214 is a low voltage problem within the ABS/TCS/SES.
DTC C1293 is a high brake pressure problem in the EBTCM
DTC B2284 is a problem with the left door control module.

First, thing I'd do is clear codes and road test to see if they return.

If they do you need a scan tester and the factory service manual to service the ABS/TCS/VSES system. With 1214 and 1293 one of the solutions for each of those is: replace EBTCM. If you end-up doing that, take a deep breath...that part is not cheap.

Thanks for the response!

I've had the problem for nine months. I'm constantly clearing the codes only to have them return when I restart, sometimes within 10-15 miles. If I clear and don't restart, the idiot lights remain on. If I don't reset, I can't turn off the traction control.

Is there any way to bypass the module? In effect, permanently disable it?

I realize this probably isn't advisable, but I'm looking for alternatives to replacing or sending the module off to be fixed. I haven't yet mustered up the courage to dig in and grab the module.

If I turn off traction control, it still comes on, but the traction control remains off. If I reset it, it won't allow me to turn off the traction control unless I wait and restart it.

Upon closer inspection, my front tires are the correct size, the rears are 10 mm narrower and fractionally shorter. Not enough of a variance to affect things. Different tire brands, wear or improper inflation must have a similar degree of margin for error.

In theory, I suppose there is a way to disable that module.
