I am in the process of removing my 427 out of the car, to rebuild it! and after being under this car unhooking everything linkage, exhaust driveshaft,ect..... it kinda looks like the motor wont come out with the trans attached? due to the non removel crossmember
or will it? have any body pulled the Motor & Trans at the same time?
Thanxs

Engine and trans will come out together only if you can get the car off the ground high enough to provide the necessary clearance for the pull.

Thanxs for the reply after getting back under the car today, it does look like it may come out together! But i tell you Mike! that dang ole shifter is a real pain in the butt to take

Just for s and giggles... i was trying to post a picture under my name! but
i just cant figure it out! Can someone tell me how to do this!
Thanxs

Take lots of pictures and label everything when your taking it apart makes it alot easier to put it back together. an assembly manual helps alot as well.

Ricochett - the small photo under members' usernames is called an AVATAR. Here's a thread in the Site Help and Feedback forum which takes you step by step through the process:

Good advice! I'd photograph everything before removal if I wasn't sure I could remember exactly where it goes.

Good luck!

The engine comes out easily with the tranny attached - I've pulled a lot of BB engine/tranny assemblies out of C2s with no trouble.

On the shifter, just pop the nuts off the shifter arms, and then pull the shifter-to-tranny atttach bolts from the top (inside the car). It'll take you 10 minutes.

On the tranny, leave the yoke in the tailshaft as a plug. Tape it or tie it to the tranny so it can't get pulled out. This will prevent you from spilling 4 qts of nasty tranny fluid all over your workshop floor.

When you're ready for the pull, place a floor jack under the tranny in a fore-aft position. Raise the tranny just enough so the pressure is eased off the crossmember. Then, lift the engine up enough to clear the engine mounts and let the whole assembly move forward until the tranny tailshaft clears the crossmember. You can then lower the floor jack, let the tranny dangle, and pull the entire assembly right out. No problem - you should have it all out and on the floor in about 55 minutes.
