Thinking ahead is literally hurting my head! :hb :crazy I started to contemplate how all of us East Coaster people get our Callaways to Bloomington. I figure that there are at least 3 people that would be interested in shipping our cars from a central location... let's say Philly (for example purposes). The total number of cars could be higher but we don't know for sure at this point. And, I really haven't contacted anyone personally to see who would be interested in getting a "group purchase" together to ship all the cars at the same time to Bloomington (St.Charles Ill.)

What I did do, however, was to gather some preliminary information. I found that in talking to Intercity transport-- there really isn't any economy in shipping multiple cars from one location. For me to ship just my car from Philly it is a $1600 round trip. Guess what? Five cars is STILL $1400 PER CAR!! Then what they do is multiply that $1400 rate by the number of cars. This is picking the cars up at one point and then dropping them off at the other point (roundtrip). They don't charge by the trip-- they charge PER CAR. Basically, a trailer full of 3 Callaways is going to net them $5,200. We could put up to six cars on a single trailer and only at six cars will they drop it to $1100 per car.
;shrug So, they do drop the price a little per car.. but not enough if I can offer my opinion.

What other alternatives would you guys like to explore?

Don't feel bad. I thought about it for all of 5 minutes and it started to hurt my head too. I elected to ignore it for a while. I'm still trying to forget the 800 mile round trip to and from Carlilse and that's nothing compared to the 1000 mile (one way) or so trip to Bloomington.

Don't forget that if you ship your car you need to buy a plane ticket too. I've set a maximum cost of getting there and back for both the car and me at around $1000. I'd sure like to be there with my car since the Callaway cars are being featured but it's going to be a huge hassle no matter what.

Thanks for joining in Kevin. Initially when I started thinking about this I lost sleep for a night. I had a grand vision of us all meeting up somewhere, loading the cars, and then driving off into the sunset in a motorhome much like the rockstars use :_rock Being that I'm not a rockstar and I don't know anyone that's willing to lend me their motorhome for a week... back to reality! I really thought that a transport company may only charge ~$3000 round trip for a handful of cars then splitting it a few ways wouldn't be a big deal. Little did I know... more ideas?

Me and Eric have been talking about this for the last couple of days. And the one thing that sounds semi attractive is maybe renting one of those truck car hauler for the weekend. The car hauler I'm talking about looks like a pick up, but has a flat bed that tilts and slides down so that the car can be driven onto it.

BTW, I too can see spending a max $1000.00 for both me and my car, and agree that anything more than that, I would also consider too much.

Of course a transporter like the one used in
Star Trek would come in handy too.:J

I sure wish we could beam over the cars! Captain Kirk was badazz! :L

Maybe now you understand why all of you didn't get to see my kruzmisl at carlisle! 2000 miles round trip and hauling gear and inventory to boot. Really glad Cam and I went though and great meeting all of you. I think you would enjoy Bloomington. Might want to look into hotel rooms at some point before long. Its like carlisle booked way out. Let me know if I can help. Paul

Wow I can understand not wanting to put many miles on your cars, but weren't they meant to be driven? I've driven mine across country twice. This last time, with the 50th caravan. Put over 7,000 miles on it! Had a fantastic time! Part of the fun for me is driving it! Sure these cars are rare, mine is the first Supernatural ever built #001, but that doesn't keep me from driving it!. What is the problem? If you don't drive it someone else will, after your gone!
Its just a car! You bunch of sissies drive the damn things!

You missed the point. I'm also a vendor and had to truck and trailer inventory and gear so I would have HAD to tow it 2000k. Believe me, when the right occasion is there, I say drive it. My Father and I drove coast to coast in the Challenge America Race in a certified 66 Corvette for the time of our life. Watch who your calling sissies!!!!

Hey Kruzsissie, You didn't star the post, right? I read your post and can see why you can't drive. I was talking to the other girls.

You have to understand that at bloomington your car will have to look its absolute best. If you drive it there you will have to spend over a day cleaning the car . So for me transporting the car would be best as well as some of the others. What would happen if your windshield was taken out by a rock how would you show the car then? That's not being a sissie that's just being smart.

I may not drive my cars much, but I can assure you that when I do, they are driven the way they were intended to be driven and then some. :booty:gap:Silly

Hey FX GS, good one! You sound like you have a great sense of humor! The rest of you guys, I was only joking, well sort of.
But I do think you should drive them every chance you get!

8388 I've heard about you boys from Texas! You guys make me long for straight open hiways! I live in the foothills, not much room to open her up. But I do every chance I get!

I drive the heck outta mine too.. probably have 1k miles on it over this summer alone. As Pete mentioned-- driving it across the country for the show of all shows will only lead to a day or so of massive cleaning.

I haven't seen the high side of 150 recently, but it's in the car's history. There are many a bug penetrations in the front of the car that have made it through past the paint on the Aero nose and into the glass! Part of the reason for trailering out there is because I had intended to get the front end re-done before this show and keep it pristine till we got there.

Still looking for alternatives on the shipping thing! We gotta pick a hotel soon too! Personally, I'm looking into the Marriot Courtyard that's close to the show. Other hotels that I've looked into are "blocked" from using "points" during the week of this show.

Supernatural001, yes, that was my sense of humor showing.
I do agree with you that these cars were meant to be driven and driven hard at that. Why have all that performance if you can't enjoy it. A number of my miles are track miles.
I sure wouldn't mind bringing my car out to your neck of the woods and exercising it on some of those open roads.

I also drive mine and drive it hard when I do. Not lots of miles but I do get out and exercise my God given right to make boost once in a while! Truthfully I have no desire to grind through 1000 miles of Interstate with the car. That's not fun to me.

Guy's, Great to see the enthusiasum here :) What I have confirmed so far is that all participant rooms are booked through
the Bloom./Gold office 800 number with a specific Bloom./Gold person...

Secured trailer parking passes will also be offered to Callaway Reunion participants and I agree w/ all the thoughts on trailering to there as spending days to present your Callaway to the world only to have it filthy of road grime isn't a stress free time :hb

I will be submitting a packet of information of everyones Callaways who have indicated a desire to be a part of this once in a lifetime event :)

Bloomington Gold is a World Class event and I think it will be very important for Callaways to be there in droves - Very refreshing to be recognized in such a manner!

Bloomington in 2004!!! :m
