does engine temp have anything to do with the lockout in the trans.Transmission shop replaced my 160 thormostate to a 190 saying if eng doesn"t reach its right temp it wont activate the lock out is this true?the engine pings alot with the 190 thermo.

That seems to be true. Right before the thermo opens, the lockup will engage. Was it engaging before the replacement?? And doesn't a lower temp thermo just open earlier, not affecting the actual temp. of the engine running after it has warmed up significantly?
