I'm looking to put an aftermarket shifter knob on my 2004 coupe's 6-speed.

What are the threads on the shifter lever? Metric? Inches?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks warren s.

So, you found a Hurst shift knob that fit the existing shifter threads? Or did you cut some different threads in the shifter when you shortened it?

MidAmerica has the classic Hurst white shifter ball with the 6 speed pattern and the Hurst logo for $49.95,fits the C5 stock threads, I had the white Hurst ball on my last 2 GTOs stock shifters. The on for the C5 is larger like the size of a pool ball. Much more comfortable.

I put on a Delrin Race Shift Knob. It is the same style used in the C5R raceing Corvette. What a difference. It makes the shifting so much faster and accurate, it was nothing short of amazing. I was going to put a shorter shifter in but don't need to now. You can use it like a pistol grip or a regular knob.

I got mine from Xtreme Motorsports. I have seen these going for $50 but xtreme's price was only $20

warren s,
Thanks for the pointer. I may go with the pool ball style as it sort of matches the stock shift knob in my '58.

bluecoupe,
Thanks for the suggestion, I may go nostalgic as I mentioned to warren s.

There is a seller on eBay that sells the same classic Hurst shifter balls for $30 instead of $50 like most of the Corvette supply houses.
He can be contacted at gt1479b@mail.gatech.edu

Thanks tghawkins, I wound up with a cue ball style shift knob from one of the Corvette parts houses. And yes, it cost about $50.

I chose it because it has only the shift pattern, with no "Hurst" on the side. Also, I chose the smaller of the two sizes (2", I think). The smaller size is big enough and yet not too big.
