I got an email from an owner of a 1966 Corvette asking if the three speed manual transmission it is equipped with is correct. I replied that it most likely was as that was the base tranny in '66. But there's something curious here. The console plate has a four speed shift pattern. He asked if that was correct.
I can't recall seeing any three speed console shift plate patterns, but then with only 564 three speeds built in 1966 that doesn't mean much.
Did the '66 three speeds come with a four speed console shift pattern? Or was it a more accurate three speed pattern? He is the third owner.
An inquiring mind wants to know!
