I decided to finally put in a kit I had bought a year or so ago. Really made a difference in the start up idling...did run rough until it warmed up but I'm here to tell you that if you are having idling problems you may want to pull that baby off and clean it up. Basically calls for disolving the carbon deposits on the back side and this can be a pretty good job when you're talking about pulling something off a 21 year old car. Mine hadn't been pulled before...carefull with the screws as they may break...I broke one off the butterfly plate. Gave up on the water jacket lid as I probably would have broken one or more on it. Soaked it overnight and used plenty of penetrating oil...just couldn't get them to break loose. All in all it turned out fine...motor purrs like a kitten. Oh, by the way, I used an article out of the tech center explaining and showing all the parts to the TB...CAC is really that good!

I have a 1987 Vette with a possible Throttle Body problem. My engine does idle great but starts up very slow, but apparently the butter flys hang up in the throttle body and keeps me going at 1400 RPM until I lift up on the accelerator peddle. Where did you find a new repair kit or where could one purchase a rebuilt or new throttle body for a 1987.

Hey Doc...sorry that it has taken so long to respond to your inquiry. I don't get the opportunity to visit the site as much as I use to but...I bought my kit from Advance Auto parts if memory serves me correctly. If you don't have one in your area you could probably find a kit at O'Rielys or pep boy, etc. Good luck on your project.

Rufus 1050 Thanks for the reply on the kit for the Throttle Body. I sent a thread on what I found out to be my problem, thinking it was the defective throttle body, it was simply pressure on the acelerator pedal from the under dash material that protects the wire, which had broken the bolt attachment. I just never looked under the dash that extensive before. Doc
