I changed the throttle cable on my 1987 coupe. It was not to difficult and acceration is now wondeful.
My question is this.
When I removed the old cable through the firewall, there is one stud that comes into the passenger compartment, attached to the mounting plate. I removed the nut like a good boy.
when I put the new cable in I pressed it into the firewall with a screw driver to get the plastic latches to expand. And I tightened the nut once again.

So my question is... what the hell does the nut and stud do?
or did I waste my time taking it off.

Thanks

You aren't referring to the stud/nut that holds the lower dash pad (hush pad) in place are you? ;shrug

No I dont think so.
If you look in the Manual you can see a plate and the stud/nut as part of the cable assy.
Other wise you can see it if you look from inside where the cable exits the cockpit.
Its in the lower inboard position.

This is typical - I only have my Haynes manual handy, and that piece of crap doesn't help much. I'll check my Helms manual when I go to the garage later. I just had my pedal assembly off and I don't recall the stud of which you speak. :confused
