Does anyone know how to adjust the TVC of my 1992 LT1 correctly. I feel that it has to be adjusted because my automatic transmission shifts 3 to 4 at 4000 rpm. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts seem to be about correct at around 5500 rpm.

1992 is probably different, but I'll try to help you at least. This comes from my 1987 Service Manual:
  1. Place control lever in "N" (Neutral).
  2. Raise car and suitably support.
  3. Loosen cable attachment at shift lever.
  4. Rotate shift lever "clockwise" to park detent and then back to neutral.
  5. Tighten cable attachment. (15 lbs. ft.)
IMPORTANT! Lever must be held out of "PARK" when torquing nut.
  6. Lower car.
  7. Check cable adjustment by rotating control lever thru the detents.

Damn! I just typed all of that when I realized that was for adjusting the shift cable, not the T.V. cable. :o

My book has this for T.V. cable adjustment:
  • Adjust
  • T.V. cable.

So, I ain't much help after all. Maybe Paul will see this and offer his advice. Sorry. :o

The cable is adjusted by, first pushing the release button and pulling the cable housing out away from the throttle lever. Then release the button and manually open the throttle all the way to the stop. This will pull the cable back to the correct position. You may then adjust slightly as needed, but only slightly.
