On my '64 327/300 the timing tab doesn't have the traditional numbers of degrees or TDC mark all it has is a flat tab with an
"A" and "O" stamped in it. How do I set timing by those marks?
Many thanks ahead of time.
Randy

Make sure the tab is clean and not caked with too much paint, because I think there should be some short lines between those letters. The "A" is for "advanced" and the "O" is at top dead center (zero degrees), so the timing will be set closer to the "A". Each line is 2 degrees; with vacuum advance hose removed from the distributor and plugged, your initial setting is 8 degrees advanced.

If you really want to get a little nuts...for five bucks or so you can stick Timing Tape on the balancer. I think Mr Gasket sells it.

Thanks WayneC, I see the marks. I just need to count up towards the "A" four marks to get to 8 degrees BTDC. (with vacuum hose removed). JonM, I may look into the tape later for now I'm nuts enough. Thanks guys.
