I am thinking about tinting my 81's windows. the only thing holding me back is the defroster lines on the back window. My defroster doesn't work now, but if I cover them with tint, is this going to hurt the resale? I am sure I could always put new defroster strips back on it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had my rear defroster wires disconnected when the rear tine was put on. This way, you could re-attach the wiring and peel off the window tint when you sell. Hopefully, the defroster wiring stays with the window.

Since the car has never seen snow and only sun, I prefer the tint.

Good luck,
Dino

When I bought my '81,it had window tint on the side and back windows, which I removed ...
I had to use a razor to get all of the tint off. the side windows were fine after wards, but the rear defroster was junk b/c the razor was wider then the heater lines for the window and the heater lines came off with the tint,If you don't care about the rear defroster thengo ahead and tint them,I literally replaced the rear window when I had the body done last year so my defroster would work again.

just my $.02

Well I tinted them and they look great. Now I have to contend with the scratches that the tint guy left. Didn't notice them till I brought the car home and washed it. Looks like he was leaning over the back end to measure the window and something on him rubbed on the car. I think I can buff them out but it is extremely irritating since it was just painted.

My rear window was already tinted when i bought it. Looks really nice and the defogger still works. I would take a good look between painting the rear window or putting plastic tinting on it.
The only problem i have with my other car that also has rear tinted window is when it freezes at some point after 4 or 5 years air began to form bubbles between the paint and the window. Each year it expands a little.

Groeten Peter.
