Tire pressure question?

2003 50th Annversary Red coupe, beautiful !
I realize this may sound foolish, but my 2003 coupe door sticker recommends 30 PSI tire pressure all around. But I seem to like to run 32 pounds in all the tires. Is it harmful in any way to run the extra two pounds in the tires? I really don't know all that much about the 'RunFlat" tires or any tires, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for your input.:)

30 is the recommended minimum. You can run any pressure up to the maximum shown on the sidewall of the tire. Be sure you set pressures when tires are cold. If it feels better to you at 32, no problem. That's what I run in mine!

Thanks, I was wondering so I asked. I've found the two hardest supjects concerning the C-5 is tires and what wax to use to keep it shiny. Thanks for the heads up !;)

It won't hurt to run them at 32 psi, but you can run the centers out of the tires, especially the rears.

If they read 30 when cold they will probably run at 33 when they reach operating temperature. Use your DIC to see how the pressure changes along with tire temperature. I run 33 cold in mine. Depending on your driving habits, putting to much air when cold could cause over inflation condition when tires get hot. If that happens the car will let you know and it will govern your maximum speed.

Huh, I didn't know that! I keep it to 32 PSI and the tire pressure monitors don't read an overpressure warning, but as LLC5 said I might be wearing out the tire centers a bit too early. So I'll keep a eye on the pressure on the DIC more closely! Thanks.

Just remember that the DIC is a warning device only, it can be off by 1-2lbs, which is normal. The only way to accurately monitor tire pressures is with a quality tire gauge. Watching the DIC can alert you as to when you need to check the pressures.

Harmful?
Certainly not.

Running 32 psi cold rather than 30 will make the ride just slightly more harsh and it may impact tread life slightly.
