Tire question.

Could anyone tell me what these numbers mean? I have never paid much attention to the tires on my other vehicles except the air of course but the Vette is different, I want to know what this means.

Front tires: 255/45R17 98W (KUMHO manuf.)

Rear tires: 285/40R17 100W KUMHO

Any help with the meaning of each set of numbers would be very appreciated.
