TireRack Specials

Occasionally I tune into the TireRack website to see what is new even if I don't need tires. When I did this yesterday, I noticed that there seem to be an unusually large number of "specials" and rebates available for 275 40 17 C4 tires. For example, the new Firestone Wide Oval (nice looking tire--no performance info yet) normally sells for $144 each, but you get an $88 dollar rebate for all four, which means $122 a tire. While this may be a factory rebate, many other tires also are on "special" for less than usual, in my checking. Anyhow, this is worth a look if your thinking about tires.

DT assures me that they will beat any advertised TR price. As I am a few months away from buying new tires, I will definitely keep an eye out for "specials".

You might also check NTB if you have them in Phoenix (?)---I was there recently and they seemed to have expanded the line of high performance tires, as I was seeing many more brands on the racks than they usually sell. They also said they can match TireRack to a friend of a friend of mine. It's wild, you know: TireRack, like Ebay and Amazon, have revolutionized buying so many things. What has happened is that you are simply no longer held prisoner by local suppliers, but have an international market to comparison shop. Somehow I wish we could do the same thing with car repair/service, to reduce cost and improve performance.
