Question: Tires

Hi everyone.
My 1994 convert needs new tires.
Any suggestions on manufacture or style?

I am interested in hearing on about the tires you guy are riding on.
My ride is all stock and my daily drive, but it has just turned 50 K and in need of some new rubber.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

My 96 coupe has Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus on it, they are good but they were on the car when I bought them The ride and handling is good

When I bought my car it had Kuhmos on it. The rear tires needed replaced after about 40K but the fronts looked like new. Since the tires I had were summer only I replaced all four with all season Kuhmos. Again after about 40K the rears needed to be replaced. The fronts looked like they would go another 20K or more. I now have Kuhmos high performance summer tires on the car because I just can not see mixing different design tires. The Kuhmos I now have are very sensitive to needing to be fully warmed up before you get good traction. Driving them on clear winter roads requires caution. The reason I stayed with the Kuhmos is price. I paid just a tick over $700 for a full set mounted and balanced. The other brands prices started at $1100 up to over $1800.

Of late, on my '95, I've run Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s and Eagle F1 Supercars.

For all round driving, the GS-D3s are a great choice. Supercars are an excellent dry traction tire, but I doubt Goodyear carries them in the C4 sizes any more.

Dang, I wish I could get 40K out of set of tires. Then again summer tires plus aggressive use=short life.

My "street" tire is a Kumho SPT, no complaints, they would have worn better if I had not auto-x on them. I don't recommend this they wear in a odd pattern. For street use they have been just fine.

I think I am going to have to put new tires on the Grand Sport. I want to keep the original tire and rims from future NCRS judging
but I also want to drive the car without worrying about 17 year old tires even though they only have 5800 miles on them. The rear tires
are P315/35ZR-17, fronts are P275/40ZR-17. Anyone have any suggestions? I am am also looking for an all around good traction tire for mostly
good weather driving. I have an extra set of rear rims I bought from a guy who lost his Grand Sport to Sandy. Just need the fronts which are easier
to find.

GY F1 GS D3s or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. D3s have better dry traction but both work great in the rain.

I had Kumho Ecstas AT's on my 90 and really liked them......good price also.......

GS-D3s are a great choice.

Agreed, and like the four 285x17s I bought less than a year ago. TR did not offer them but my local independant dealer ordered them.

The 315s were pricey and damaged the inner wells on hard dips.
