toasty 87 cupholders

i think have this figured: i have an 87 vette, so the exhaust runs right down the center, under the cupholders. result: my cupholders can cook up coffee after running for 20min. any suggestions?

Welcome Lunar. Most of the catalogs sell a carpet heat barrier kit. If it goes clear under your console you should notice an improvement. I looked at them at Bloomington yesterday and they are ceramic cloth with a foil back. Isn't supposed to effect carpet fit.
