On my '89 the top front adjustable brackets (on removalble top) work themselves lose. No matter how tight I re-tighten them, they come lose and the top starts flappen in the breeze. Any fix for this or suggestions?? I was gonna take JB Weld to em but thought I'd get some insight on here first. It's getting real annoying :hb....Thanks for any help..!!

Loose SCREWS

LOL
Back in the 80's at work (high speed tape winding equipment) we used Blue locktight for this kind of vibrating environment. It never sets up like the original Locktight but prevents loosening from vibration.
I've even used it on semi-auto rifles in competition to keep them from coming apart (not on the hot parts, heat destroys it).
Hope you can find the blue stuff. We got it at a local industrial tool store. Been retired 12 years and still have my original bottle so haven't had to locate a source lately.
Good luck,
John

I personally wouldn't take JB Weld to them, that's irreversible. One time, when I backed out of the driveway, I usually back out on an angle, the bolt above my head snapped!

THanks for the information. I don't think i'll weld em down after hearing about the one that snapped on ya...ouch..!!! I looked up Lock Tight on google and everyone and their brother was still using it but no info on where to get it untill I noticed at the top of the page google asked" are you sure you don't mean Locitite"?? scheechs...:duh here's their web site for anyone who might want to get this fine product...which is what i'm a gonna do......thanks again..!! :w

I would use the red stuff...as it is not likely you will need to remove them anytime soon. That is what I used on mine...no more problem. And contrary to popular belief you can get the red loose again...just takes a bit more effort.

I also lowered the blocks to the lowest position bolted it back down and drilled a small hole in the middle and drove a self tapping screw in it to help hold it there....

Ok, thanks...!! I'll use the red...will be nice to get this resolved before I take the trip to FL......:Steer
