What is the amount of torque I need for a '78 flywheel onto the crank ('78, 4-speed)?

Putting everything back on, what else do I need to torque down in this clutch job? Specs on them..?

What torque wrench do you suggest I buy and what limits of torque should it be?

Thanks!! :D

ok,Stallion...flywheel to crank.. My book shows 60 ft lbs...

clutch pressure plate...30 ft lbs..as for a torque wrench I would get a 1/2 inch drive craftsman is as good as any unless you have access to a snap-on truck or one similar like that.good luck..

Be sure and clean the flywheel surface and the pressure plate surface thoroughly before you install the clutch - you don't want ANY oil or contaminants on either (or on the disc); brake cleaner works well for this, and leaves no residue.

John, I cleaned it off with gasoline. It cut through everything really well. Besides my greasy hands touching it, there really isn't anything on her now. So, I think I'm good to go. I just need to re-assemble now!! :D Got the pressure plate and clutch on there now.

Hey Stallion, I really don't want to sound like someones father, (wait a minute I am a father) but NEVER EVER use gasoline to clean with. The smart guys in the forum can break down the chemical composition of gas. All I know is that gasoline is the most unstable chemical I have in the garage. Too many fatal garage fires are the result of unsafe use and storage of gas.

Besides, you have too many good years in front of you with that shark to waste it because you didn't want to run down to the hardware store.

That's it. Lecture over. peace Bud

Okay, I won't use gasoline again. :( So you generally use brake fluid to clean off parts, etc? Thanks! :D

the reason you dont use gasoline to clean is that the vapors are VERY EXPLOSIVE....and all it needs is a spark from something as a furnace kicking on or lighter then your in real trouble....:blow just a heads up!!! dont want anybody to kill themselves over a lack of knowledge!!!!!!!
