I ordered a full set of tower clamps. They were the thinest poorly made pieces I have ever seen. The old ones seemed twice the thickness and would like to find a good set if possible? Anyone have a source link etc? I may send the Wittek repros back and go with the newer style worm drive ones, if not.
Thanks! :beer

Mark,

When I restored my '66 small block, I used the gear clamps at first to let everything seat and seal. About a month or two later I replaced the gear clamps with the repro tower clamps, installing them in the same spots and covering the impressions left in the hose by the gear clamps.

Worked for me, never a problem.

I do carry a couple gear clamps in an emergency kit though

YMMV

I've posted a number of times about the reproduction dated tower clamps - they're junk - I had about a 75% failure rate with mine; they're nothing like the original Wittek clamps (Wittek went out of business almost 20 years ago).

I use real originals and don't worry about the dates. :)

Where do you find the real originals?? Ebay?
