I got a TPIS AirForce1 cold air intake at a great price for my '85 vette. I am wondering from those who have this part installed if it is really worth it? And does it live up to its claims of .2 and +2mph in the 1/4?

I plan on installing it this weekend.

Worth it? depends on what you feel it is worth.. LOL

I have it, I bought it since the Breathless box is Junk and my stock air intake was cracked. I found it to be an excellent piece.

As far as 1/4 mile times, I doubt you will see an improvement.
I didn't

what I feel is worth it is making my car go faster. Based on your reply and feedback I have got from others it is a coin toss, so only the track will tell.

well I got it in and sealed up. I used RTV to seal up the base of the cold air intake (per instructions) so a "vacume" & positive pressure area can be created.

Did you seal up the open area's with RTV or just leave them open?

It looks like it should help, but who knows...

I did not use any RTV. I guess I missed that bit of info in the instructions

You'll basically get the same improvement as an open lid and a K&N. But if you get a good deal on it, might as well go for it.

I think sealing the cold air system with RTV is pretty important or else air will escape the "scoup" area into the engine bay, thus taking away the ram air effect. But who knows....

LT1, I still have my cut lid setup. Hopefully it will help out. Im curious to see the iat readings in the winter on a below freezing day!
