I rented a two axle trailer from U-Haul to bring my vette from ATL, GA to KY one-way for about $100. :upthumbs You will need to make sure your Jeep will handle the weight or call U-haul ahead of time to ask if your Jeep can handle it. When I went to get my trailer in GA, the guy leaving in his 2000 something Explorer was mad because the U-Haul guy would not rent him a trailer because hus truck was not rated to pull the trailer plus his car he wanted to haul. Turned out, that this guys mis-forturne was my gain, because that trailer was the last one! :beer

A Vette on a good two-axle trailer is probably going to weigh 4500 lbs so, for a trip that long with your Vette on the back, you're going to want to make sure whatever you pull it with can safely tow 4500 lbs. For that you need something with a GCWR of about 8000 lbs. Most likely, a rental trailer will have brakes but, don't tow without trailer brakes and make sure you know how to load the trailer for the correct tongue-weight.

Good ideas all, guys. My other car is a 94 Jeep wrangler - clearly not a suitable tow vehicle. I'd need to buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee or bigger. I'm thinking I'll just drive the wrangler to Fla, then fly back when i get situated and drive the vette down. I can fit all I now own in the wrangler.

Tony,
Probably a good idea since driving sounds fun! Sorry to hear we'll be losing yet another gun owner and voter :duh
At least you're moving to a semi-free state. Check their weirdo laws about carrying in crowds/sporting events, etc...PA is so free.... for the moment anyway!:w

At least in FLA you wont have to worry about black ice and where almost every day is convertible day!
