Had to ask this question...Last Winter I had the rear suspension rebuilt. However, for some reason the front trailing arm bushings were not replaced.....anyway, I have the bushings and they need to be installed. How difficult is it to remove the front bushings? Is it something than can be done by a local service person or is it something that needs to be completed by a specialist? Is there a site for the "How to remove the old bushing and install the new one? Thanks for your help...

It requires a special tool to fully compress both halves of the bushing while you peen over the end of the center sleeve into the depression in the washer at the end of the bushing. Most GOOD shops have this tool setup; if they don't, go somewhere else that knows how to do it. If it isn't done properly, the trailing arm will move laterally with respect to the bushing and you won't be able to hold a toe-in setting.

Thanks Guys, I tried to post this reply but it did not take so here it is again.

Bob, I don't have the lift or space to remove the t-arms, so I will need a shop that can remove them, replace with new bushings and reinstall, plus do a four wheel alignment. I live 200 miles south of Atlanta in Tifton, so I really don't trust the small shops around here. Some of them say they can do it, but I don't think they really know what they are getting into. Do you know of a shop in Atlanta or nearby that I could drive in for the day and get it done? Can it be completed in a day?

Thanks

Wiley,

If Paintdaddy cant do it take it to the complex that The Last Detail is creating with their relo. They haven't done any work for me yet but I have had a lot of discussions with the shop manager and have a level of confidence.

They are having an open house on 11/8. If you are concerned, come up and check them out.

Thanks Bob, I was in town on Monday and went by the new location. I picked up a pair of vacuum relays for the headlights. That fixed the vacuum problem. I didn't get a chance to speak to them about their new shop but that sounds like a good idea. I'll send Paintdaddy an e-mail and get his input.

Thanks

Wiley
