I've removed the old bushings and had the arms refinished and have all new bearings and bushings to install. I have the tools for installing the spindles and bearings but the bushings are giving me a hard time.

Does anybody know a tool that is available to install the bushings? I know GM specifies one in the service manual but I can't find anyone that has one.

I only have two bushings to install so I hope there is a tool or process that is relatively inexpensive.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

They have to be installed with a press.Any machine shop or some auto shops should be able to help.

I just bucked up and bought the assemblies ready to go.

I have seen the bushing staking tool in many of the Corvette catalogs. Have you looked in Corvette Central, Paragon, and others. I doubt that you could make this cheaper than buying it.

You MUST compress the bushings before flaring the end of the sleeve over the outer retainer (which is what the special tool does), or you'll have lateral slop in the bushing, even after the toe is set/shimmed and thru-bolt is tightened. There's no halfway with this - it has to be done right; the thru-bolt does NOT compress the bushings.
