Want to add a trans cooler to my coupe (B&M).

Does anyone know where I can find a good install write up.

I just need to know what lines need to be used to install the cooler correctly and some placement ideas for best performance.

Thanx!:Twist

lurking...........I'd like to know too.;)

My transmission cooler (B&M) is located up front by the radiator. I have heard about coolers being located in the rear, but have no experience with the rear location. What specific questions do you have? (Cooler lines are dependent on the fittings on the cooler; I'm not quite sure I understand your question.) I also have the K&N twin tube cold air system to free up space where the air box was located.

Separately, I highly recommend installing a transmission cooler. With a Yank torque converter, the transmission fluid temperature has never gone above 170 degrees F - even in 100+ degree temperature days.

I want to know how the cooler its self is hooked up I know where to mount it. How do you plumb it? which lines do you use comming from the rad? and how and where do the hoses etc hook up? I have all the parts but I need to know if you by pass the rad completly? do you hook it up after or before the rad? and which line , the sending or return? Oh and which line IS the sending/return line where it meets the rad?

Lots of questions I hope you can help!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Dean, I am still a bit confused by your questions. The Corvette (at least the 2003's) did not come stock with a transmission oil cooler. Therefore, you have to run lines all the way back to the transmission (which is why some have elected to install the cooler in the rear of the car).

HI there,
Actually, there are a few options here.
On vehicles NOT equipped with the Z51 power steering cooler, I simply add the PS cooler and plumb the lines, from the lower pipe, going to the lower half of the radiator.
This works very well, and looks factory.
As for the fluid, remember, Dexron 3 does not start to oxidize till 270. Your PCM will go into fail safe mode at 255, to keep the temperature down.
On vehicles NOT stock, a larger one may be necessary, as was noted above with a stall speed converter.
A BM cooler I usually mount to the front AC condenser, and pipe to the lower outlet. Hoses and lines run to the passenger side of the vehicle.
Allthebest, c4c5
