First the good news, I put the vette in a car show saturday and won third place! I'll have a pic of the car with the trophy tommorow (if it's nice out).

Now for the problem.... I had the vette up on the lift the other day to service it, and I was looking around the trans to see if I could find where the leak was comming from (we already replaced the trans pan filter and gasket). It looks like it's leaking from where the speedo cable goes into the trans. Is there an o-ring or something that should be there? we didn't want to mess with it too much since I'm going to another show this saturday.

Do you think the cable just needs to be tightened down? it was REALLY loose... I started to take it off with my fingers.

Thanks for the help guys!

345215 & 10054241

Go to your local GM dealer and get a GM# 345215 sleeve and a 10054241 seal. You'll be good to go. You can buy a seal for in the sleeve, but while your down there just put in a new sleeve.

The only O-ring is on the peice that your cable screws onto and is held in by one bolt right were your cable screws on. Your cable should only be on hand tight and there is very little trans fluid in the tail shaft, not enough that it shuold be leaking out, infact
there other than your speed-o gears (2 small plastic) and tail shaft thats about it. ( I just had mine off to replace the gear around the tail shaft and there wasn't enough fluid to run anywhere to speak of)
