HI everybody.Heres my question. Have rebuilt motor no ac compressor. Would like to lose ac condenser that blocks a lot of air to my radiator. But have transmission cooler tied in to front. Was wondering if i could put metal lines into side of radiator and get rid of cooler. Thanks for reading my post. Bill

Sounds like someone added the separate cooler; originally the right side radiator tank had an integral trans cooler inside it, with two fittings for the cooler line connections.

Hey John ya i replaced old radiator and support .New one has holes for transmission lines.Ac condensor still in car.Car runs hot at about 85 mph.Can i do away with cooler tied into condenser sits in front of radiator.Leaves and dust collecting in between them.wondering which is the better way to go .cooler or radiator lines. Bill

The radiator with the built-in trans cooler should be more than adequate to keep the trans fluid temp correct - it worked fine on over 80% of all C3's for many years. Ditch the added cooler and see if it improves highway cooling.

I agree. Stock set up should work fine for daily driving. You should clean the leaves and crud from the radiator and check the shroud and support seals. You want air going through the radiator and not leaking around it.

:)

Thanks Mike and John.Heres what i wound up doing.First changed filter and fluid.Took out condenser hosed out radiator with garden hose nice and clean now.Hooked trans cooler to frpnt of radiator with lock ties. Will test drive later today.Wont really know till weather gets hot. Thanks for replys.Bill

You may wish to verify you have that little air dam thing on the bottom of your front end.. supposedly it helps channel air to the radiator at speed.
