I have seached the site and found lots of info on trim codes. But. The one on my 76 doesn't match the descriptions of the others, mine seems to have fewer numbers. It goes as follows: (from top to bottom)
CHEVROLET K l l
TRIM 152 37L PAINT

General Motors Corporation...
.....ect.

Is there a book I could buy (black book) to help me out with this?
That and a shop manual(s)

thanks,
r

Hi Ritchie,

You are probably comparing your Trim Tag configuration to that of the mid-year vettes (63-67). The '68 to '82 TT's are somewhat different in configuration as they did not list the body numbers like the mid years.

In your Trim Tag the codes translate as follows:

K11 = Body Build date of June 11th, 1976
Trim 152 = Smoke Gray Leather
37L = Mohogany Mettalic Paint

As for books and shop manuals just go to the www.ncrs.org website and they have publications for sale in the store section.

I used the 1968-1982 Corvette Specifications Guide to decode your tag. It is available along with the Corvette Black Book and the appropriate Service Manuals if you choose.

Enjoy you vette and I hope this helps:)

Poop!! The seats must have been sold by a PO. the ones in there are tan collored and vinyl. Thanks Fuelie.
I guess the tan colored seats and the 77 style steering wheel (w/ cruise) came from the same doner as they are the same color.
This is fun stuff. Love decoding.
Gettin a set of Smoke Gray Leather seats / skins is gonna be slim??
The C3 really grows on ya. Like more each day. Neat cars.

Ritchie,

This decoding stuff can be a blast but it can become addictive and make you want to spend lots of money to make things original:L

Have fun with the car! For now the Tan colour will look fine and in the future you can still buy complete interior kits from most of the larger Corvette supply houses in the Smoke Gray colour.

You are right, sharks do grow on you. My wife and I have had 2 of them. She still has her yellow '78

Enjoy your project, building them is half the fun:D
