Trouble Code 36

I have had an SES Code 36 for some time now. I haven't noticed any performance problems. In reading some of the threads on this code, I understand that I should check the MAF relay and MAF burnoff relay. My question is, where are they located on a 1989 C4? I found 2 relays behind the battery. One is the fuel pump relay (it clicks when I put 12v on terminal G). The other one should be either the MAF relay or the MAF burnoff relay. It checks out OK. Where is the other one located?

#17 & #18 is what your looking for...17 is the MAF Sensor........

Thanks, Mag. You are absolutely right. The fuel pump relay is actually over at position 3. I checked the wire colors going to these two relays and they match my wiring diagram. Both relays seem to bench check ok. I cleared the code, so we'll see if the SES light comes back on or not.

May as well do the relays, they are cheap and suggested preventative maintenance...

This site will come in handy for future code clearing, if you have not already seen it.

The two behind the battery on my 88 are MAF power and burn off relays. Both have the same part number. When I replaced them, I stopped getting the Check engine light. Only cost $20 from a GM dealer. A lot cheaper than the MAF sensor. I've heard some problems when using a K & N filter with too much oil. I coats the sensor wires and causes problems. Carb cleaner works to clean them.
