My 1990 corvette displays a "service abs" light and flashes "SYS" next to the gas gauge. The manual says to see your local Chevy dealer. Does anyone know if you can decode these trouble codes yourself? What equipment do you need?

I tried a EZ-link scanner. But it says that there are no problems.

I would like to learn how to do this myself.

Thanks.

Mike

If your ABS light stays on and there is no decernable problems then check the control module connector, make sure it's tight and there are no bent pins. You need special test equipment for the ABS system. I have never yet found, where if any, to buy such equipment. Good luck with it...!!

I went through the diagnostic procedure outlined by C5d and found the lateral accellerometer to be malfunctioning. A quick inspection revealed that the cable was not plug in all the way. After pushing it in further, all is well.

Thanks much.

Mike
