Hi,
I have a 1998 C5 and about a month ago the doors started locking by themselves and the remote stoped working. When I reprogram the remote it works for a few minuets then looses then stops and needs to be reprogrammed again. The passive setting on the remote was set to off and I replaced the battery but that did not help. I thought the problem had to be in the remote itself so I bought a new one but I am still having the same problem. Does something need to be reset on the car? I did the FOB Training when I got the new remote.

not sure if this has anything to do with anything but around the same time I noticed it not working I started getting a "Service Tire Monitoring System" alert. It has not gone to the dealer for this alarm yet

HI there,
It sounds like there is a problem with the RFA receiver and it is NOT functioning correctly.
Your theory that the TPM and the remote work together is correct.
I would say that there is a receiver that needs to be replaced.
Then your problems will most likely be a thing of the past.

My receiver on my 97 was replaced in 2000 under warranty by my uncle who gave me the car. it had 5000 miles so it could be flawed or my uncle could have just felt like getting a new one cause the warranty was running out. I have always noticed that it seems as though the receiver is a little weak on the early c5s even my friends fathers it seems to be the same. im thinking they may not have been designed well.

Good Luck.
Andy
