Where is the best place to find C3 Vette Alternators ? Looking for # 1100884 for 70 LT1. Guess I'll be looking for awhile....not an easy find.

Hey venms96,

Have you tried Paragon? They stock lots of old reconditioned parts so you might get lucky. Their phone number is (800)882-4688, web corvette-paragon.com.

Good luck,
Cal

Thanks again Cal. I will try Paragon tomorrow. I know this is a difficult part to locate. I thought there would be more around due to the number of AC cars built in 69 and 70.

You've been answering and assisting me for a few weeks. Thanks Cal.

Mark

I don't know if you found your alternator yet or not. If not there is one on ebay right now: 1970 CORVETTE 454,350 LTI ALTERNATOR #1100884 9M17 RARE Item number: 7956398414 . I don't know if the date will match what you're looking for or if you care. But pictures look O.K. it is missing the pulley, auction ends 2/28 and current bid $385

The one on Ebay sold for about a grand, crazy.

Holy Dawg Doo--I am surprised that at those prices somebody is not manufacturing them--you can buy a starter with the correct date code from Corvette Central --why not alternators?

Ecklers still sells alternators. www.ecklers.com

I don't think that those have the correct 1100884 part # and the date code that people would need to be within 6 months of their build date.

Very very VERY difficult to replicate all the nuances of an original alternator. The only reason someone would want a correct part number and date coded alternator would be for NCRS or Bloomington judging. If a repo doesn't pass there, what's the point?

Good point:)

Won't Pay That Much !!!!

Yes, I saw that Alternator on Ebay. I watched it from Day 1. I thought maybe I'd jump in at the end, but after seeing those big numbers for an Alternator, forget that. I have the $$, just don't have the desire.
I'm sorry to see that the parts market has gone thru the roof. I am not going to allow myself to pay that much for an Alternator, simple as that. When I first started looking, not that long ago either, I was willing to pay some "decent" money for a correct Alternator. But now that I see what the game is all about, no way am I going out like that.
Great for the buyer, great for the seller. No problem with people wanting to make big $$, and no problem for a guy who wants the correct part and will pay anything for it. But I don't have to allow myself to participate in this kind of parts hunt.
It would be a "nice to have" item for my car. Just about everything else is correct. But I had no idea it would be this difficult or absurdly expensive to buy an 1100884 Alt.
Forget my first posting.........and not because I found one.
My 370hp LT1 is a blast to drive, and I'm not thinking about the Alternator when I hear those solid lifters !
Later..............

How right you are--and that one didn't even have the deep V pulley on it which would add up to more $$$ and maybe even a rebuild would have been necessary.
