Can anyone tell me generally what the "financial outcome" is when having a Technical Servcice Bulletin fix performed on a Vette that's out of warranty? Are any of these things covered by GM because they are the product of design flaws? My '98, of course, has no more warranty, and there are some TSB issues that I'd like to fix which were never taken care of under warranty. I'm just wondering if I will have to pay through the nose to have these items addressed that are commonly known problems.

Thanks,
Fred

[I realize that different repairs/fixes will cost different amounts. What I'm trying to figure out is if any of this will be covered by GM...]

HI there,
While I do not think that any part of a TSB would be covered by GM, after the warranty expired, most Corvette service technicians can serve per the labor times in the TSB barring any problems.
For example, there is a TSB for the seat rocking back and forth. Performing this repair, within the labor time set in the TSB is not hard, so then all you would have to worry about it the part itself.
Please expand on exactly what you are looking to repair, and we can assist further.

Well, here are several TSB issues that I've read about and have experienced on my Vette:

• seat sliding back and forth (problem with adjuster mechanism)
• bad odor from AC when starting up (due to bacteria)
• leather on driver's side bolster prematurely worn
• "Door Rattle with Moderate to High Audio System Volume"
• water pouring into rear area near speaker from hatch after rain

There might be a few more, but these are the ones I'm most concerned about. Thanks for the insight on taking care of these things!

*Bump!* Sorry to do that, but I was wondering, c4c5, if you had any further thoughts on these TSB issues that I've listed in my follow-up.

Thanks for your help!
Fred

Hi there,
You can reference the knowledgebase here, for the TSB service times to do a job.
Then, you can check on the part numbers at gmpartdirect.com to find out list pricing.
I do NOT price against other dealerships.
I serve my customers as I see fit within the guidelines of repairing Corvette per engineering guidelines, making the customer happy, at a reasonable price.

The Chevy dealerships use a small spray can of "stuff "...that you can buy at the parts dept. and spray it into the intake with the a/c running then cut the a/c off and let it set for a while then restart and it kills the bacteria...I used it and it worked...
About the seat...you or someone can fix it...email me and I will send you the details I got from another forum from their tech tips... ...usacorvetter@att.net...
Actually I have to do the fix on my own drivers seat in the near future......:beer
