Tsunami on Peachtree Street

I got a huge wave from two guys in a '75? vert Sunday. They both went berserk when they saw me, and it was like Oh Yeah, I'm cruisin the 'vette surprising. The enthusiastic 4 arm wave was a reminder of what these cars mean to some people. My dad enjoyed it on Father's day. He never even said slow down, son. Just sat there with orange lens flame sunglasses and a big grin.

An '87 black coupe and a '00 vert wanted nothing to do with us in a friendly punch it from the light. A newer Porche didn't bite either. Must have been the Corsas and the Zaino. Dad and I were real bad-asses for about an hour playing in the Corvette in Midtown Atlanta. Rather surreal because 34 years ago he would have beat me with a belt for driving like that.

Born and raised in Buckhead. Now live 40 miles north replacing sirens, bass boomers and gunshots with cow moos and frog ribbits. City boy to country man.

Our old gang has been replaced by a sho'-nuff gang. Atlanta is too far gone for me. But I still love to occasionally cruise the familiar streets and raise as much nostalgic hell that's allowed by law. Never outgrow that. Having this cherry vette chomping at the bit is too much fun around here, city or country roads.

I am the kind of vette owner that will show my passion about these cars by waving like a nut if the situation is right. I know vette owners that just make the two finger solute, like it is too much work to wave. I love these cars, and waving is just a small part of the fun.

I make a big deal out of a vette and wave even in other cars driving or riding shotgun. The looks on the pilots faces are always entertaining.

Sometimes I wave to myself in the rear view. I always wave back.
