Hey all, I was looking over a TT at Auburn this past weekend, and for the life of me, I couldn't find the Turbos. I don't claim to be super educated on all the parts of the engine, but I thought I could at least locate a couple turbos!! :) Are they visable from above? I saw the two intercoolers (I assume that's what they are), but couldn't find the turbos. Just curious.

Also, just to make sure I am correct in another assumption... SNAT=SuperNatural Automatic Transmission?

The turbos are hidden under the motor. And SNAT only means Super Natural. I'm sure there will be some nice Callaway owners post you some good pictures and explain the SNAT thing better than me.

Cool, thanks! Maybe I could just get "SNAT" as my vanity plate!

I think Chris made up the "SNAT" name for the Super Natural. Not sure anyone other than us around here would know what it means. Maybe I'm wrong about that but I'd never heard it until he brought it up.

You are correct that you found the intercoolers. They are the most obvious part of the TT package along with the "Rams Horn" on the front of the throttle body. If you follow the intercooler plumbing down the side of the block you can just see the turbos from above but they are much more easily visible from below. They are mounted quite low. So low in fact that they need an oil scavenge pump to get the oil that is pumped to them back into the pan.

I don't know if I can take the credit for it but "SNAT" does seem to fit ;)

The Supernatural series Callaways were originally called the CL1 (on the LT1 based cars) & the CR1 (for the LT5/ZR1 based cars)
Sometime, shortly after introduction, the CR/CL designations dropped and they simply were known as "Supernaturals" for Naturally aspirated Supercar ;)

The series (for the CL's) were avail. in both automatic & manual 6 speeds and in addition to all the standard Corvette options, Bodywork, Suspension, Exhaust, Brakes, Interiors, etc were all avail. from Callaway on a build to order basis :upthumbs

This series of Callaway was also know (In the Corvettes) as the C6 project - as it was Callaways 6th endeavor...

Hope this helps :beer
