Turbo-Hydramatic Transmission?

Could someone please explain how this tranny operates? What makes it different from a regular automatic, is there a big difference?

The General has been using that moniker for years. Basic operation is similar to Ford's C-4, C-6, Chrysler's Torque Flight, etc.

I guess the answer to your question is - no, there is no meaningful difference, it's just what GM decided to call it.
