Underbody Fiberglass Repairs???

Hello all!

Does anybody know about how to either fix the underbody fiberglass (the seat buckets, etc.) under my 92 C4?

I've been looking for the replacement underbody and also to see if someone (body shop, fiberglass shop) could fix the holes. I've got 2 holes, one driver side and the other passenger side. Both are in the same spot, right about where the front speakers are. One is so bad that some water got inside and shorted out one amp in my driverside bose.

Any suggestions, I am in Houston??

Thanks for all help...I am in the beginning of doing a total restoration and don't want to proceed until I can first plug up all leaky spots, underbody and next all of the weatherstripping. Then I'll proceed with the new carpets, new speaker, etc.

What I did with mine was get a piece of aluminum flashing, riveted it over the hole or crack, then just fiberglassed over the aluminum, sprayed it with some black paint and said thank you very much...I don't know how correct it is, but it keeps the floor dry. BTW, I put the flashing on the inside after I pulled the carpet up.

Jon's advice is good but I took a different tack. I molded a piece of metal and covered it with aluminum foil so the resin wouldn't stick to it, then held it in place with blue painter's tape. Then I did four layers of fiberglass/resin (I used black resin tint so I wouldn't have to paint it), let it dry, and removed the metal piece. Looked pretty good, and it was really easy. As Jon said, maybe it doesn't look 100% correct but no one is ever going to look under there, and it's still functional.

Thanks for the help, I don't know if Im going to do it yet, just hard to get to without the proper lifts, jacks, etc. We'll see. Got a quote for $200. I may just do it to get it sealed up professionaly.
