Doug (Z28CANUCK) sent me email asking status...once I told him he suggested I post it for all to see....like Barry, I don't want people to get bored with our ongoing quest for the car to get finished....so here is what I sent:

Well, as we continue so does the story of getting more parts. Last week we finished cleaning and replating, painting, or clear coating the suspension parts. We are just on the verge of assembly. We are also working on the motor, have put in a new Dewitte Radiator, and doing the assembly of the water pump and the pulleys. Also working on the front control arms (upper and lower) trying to locate and put on the correct hardware. That is progressing smoothly.

We did discover the front brake drums are to small and had to find and purchase the correct brake drums with the FLAT springs, as 63 was the only year using the FLAT springs around the drum. Did locate these and should be arriving today. Also needed to find and purchase a new strut rod bracket that hold the tie rods for the rear. Again in 63 this part was a one of a kind. So we are using a 64 that will be changed into a 63, cannot tell the difference. The one on the car was CHROMED...oh yeah, the front brake drums were chromed too. The Clutch support rod was changed as that was chromed, the rear end support bracket, changes, guess what that was chromed....somebody spent a lot of money on chrome for this car at one time. Also while we are at it, I am changing the parking brake cables, both front and back (right and left)...again special part for the 63...but did manage to find a vendor who is making them exactly like the OEM. Did find a front OEM brake cable....so that's on the way, hopefully arrive tomorrow.

Hope to start engine next week....that is when I plan to post. Most of the engine is in the car and ready to go, need to put the distributer, carb, and few other items back, but it all appears to be coming together.

Estimated date of completion July 29....

Oh yeah, For CRUISING I have purchased a set of red line radials, (275-15), and since everybody seems to be going with the Torque-Thrust D's...I reached back into my memory banks and found the guy who is making (by order only) ET five spoke polished wheels, the EXACT same way as was produced in the 1960's. Then I managed to devlop an adapter that will go over the center hub allowing me to use the three bar spinner from the stock 63 wheel covers...so I will have this five spoke wheel with the stock Corvette spinner for 63 on the center of the wheel...is that way to cool.

I will be at Carlisle...and we are going to MidAmerica Effingham Show (FUNFEST).....

No way could we ever get bored from these posts! Keep them coming and thanks again for the update Collin, next we'll be asking for more pics!!!!!;) . Good luck with the end of July and see you soon:upthumbs

I enjoy posts from people who DO things rather than me who tend to buy. If it's beyond a 3/8", 1/2", 9/16", or a 5/8" by hand I am lost. I don't have power tools. Congrats!

you project

Hello Collin

I look forward to heariing of the debut of your car. I like the pics you have included in the past and always go over your posts quite a few times.
You have a great amount of effort and detail into your project.

Don't forget the $$$$$$$...;LOL ....my wife does not..... Many thanks for your posts, all of you just give the encouragment to continue. My goal is Carlisle this year and its finally looking the best it ever has I will meet this date.

As far as the wrench turning, I have done a lot of the work, and still continue to do so, but for most of the suspension work Corvette Specialties of Maryland has had that honor. And they are doing a great job for me there. I do travel there as time permits and work on the car, but its in their capable hands this time, as guess what, I got two back to back trips coming up, and one is to Seattle (Olympia) Washington end of month....

Again thanks for you posts....
