upgrade seats on a 76

I've been considering replacing my '76 seats with c-4 or c-5 seats for better comfort,etc. Has anyone done this modification? If so,degree of difficulty,fit,amount of modification required,etc. Thanks.

The 79-82 used seats are starting to get a bit pricey lately--however, they're comfortable and weigh 40lbs less than the 75-77 (and non PC '78) seats. They also hold up better than C4 and C5 seats over time. Easy install too. I'll find a pair one day...

Brian, are the '79-'82 a direct bolt in? I know they are a high back,what I'm looking for.Do the have adjustable backs....I'm 6'5",so a little tilt would help the headroom.Rick

You need a firewall modification :L

I tell all of my 'taller' friends... don't buy a C3 unless it's a vert!

I can't answer your question about the rest Rick, but I'm sure someone else on this forum has done this and will chime in soon.

iput 82 seats in my 75 . the front bolts are a line up , but you must redrill the rear ones and put a nut and bolt thru them . they are lower on one side so you will have to shim one side. this conversion will add 1 inch to the seat height and i would not do this to a non tilt wheel. i paid 600 dollars for my seats.

I have a set of 81 seats in my 76 and they bolted right in. I bought the car from a friend of mine who originally put them in. I'm not sure if he changed out the sliders from the 76 seats, but I have a call into him to ask. It didn't look like there had been any modification to the seat frames or the floorboards on mine.

my buddy is 6 feet and can stretch a little and look out thru the t top. i'm 5-10 and feel like i'm sitting on a pillow.mike

I'm 6'2" and I fit in mine just fine with the 81 seats. I also have glass t-tops which helps. My cousin's 80 has regular t-tops and my head doesn't hit them. He is the same height as me and he says he doesn't have a problem either.
