Using ebay

A bid is a legally obligating contract to buy-- not to look. The only exception I can think of is a situation where the seller materially misrepresents the vehicle- eg: said it was an LT1 numbers matching car and research showed it was not.
Your due diligence should be conducted before you bid. I bought an out of state car on E-Bay but had a colleague go look, drive and examine before bidding.
Be diligent, be thorough and communicate with the seller if you're serious!
Regards-

Most of the legit sellers will let you back out if you think the car was misrepresented after looking at it in person. They will usually state that in the ebay ad. Always ask the seller before putting in a bid. I am most comfertable purchasing from someone has has many items sold before and has a high approval rating. After dealing with a seller your comments will be posted and other people do read them. Trust me, a legit seller does not want bad things written about him or her. Don't get in a hurry and overbid something. I bought mine without even paying the "buy now" price. If you are interested in something, call the seller and ask questions. That's what I did. He finally asked me to give him a price and I threw one out there, not expecting anything and he said ok! I flew into Scottsdale, Arizona, and there were three other guys waiting for the car to pick us up, to take all of us to this car dealer who sold us our vehicles on ebay. Overall I would do it again.

what about older cars, is anything different for buying them
