I AM BUILDING A STREET& STRIP CAR WITH ABOUT 550 HORSE AND 600 # TORQUE. CAM WILL HAVE about 575 lift .comp. cam thumper series. MY QUESTION IS HOW LOW CAN ONE GO ON VAC. CAN . I THINK I WILL HAVE ABOUT 8 OR 9 INCHES VAC, .BEFORE SWITCHING OVER TO A VAC. PUMP? I AM GOING WITH 9 IN, FORD REAREND WITH 373 GEARS ALONG WITH A ART CARR 700R4 BLT TRANS. ANY IMPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF YOU HAVE DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS, 540 ALUI. HEAD BB OR 434 ALUI HEAD SB. CANNOT DECIDE WHICH. THANKS LARRY

If you plan on racing exclusively on the strip... just go to non-power brakes. Or, use a can. The 700R4 uses a TV cable and no vacuum, so you don't need to worry about it on the vacuum tree.

I don't think you are asking how to ensure your Vette retains all its vacuum accessories for the street- like HVAC, headlights, and power brakes. It sounds like you are trying to build a drag strip rocket.

THANKS FOR THE IMPUT BUT I AM PLANNING TO BUILD A E-85 MOTOR SO I CAN HAVE MORE COMPRESSION AND STILL NOT RUN THE RACE GAS. THE CAR WILL BE ON THE STREET WITH HVAC AND P/B,ECT, I DON'T PLAN ON GETTING BEAT TOO MUCH BY THESE STANGS RUNNING THE BLOWER COBRA MOTORS.THEY LOVE TO BRAG ABOUT HOW VETTES CANN'T RUN WITH THEM SO I PLAN ON GIVING SOMEBODY A WAKE UP CALL USING JUST MOTOR NO BOTTLE OR BLOWER.THE ROT. ASSEMBLY WILL BE ALL FORGED,4340 AND THICK CROWN ON COATED PISTONS,CNC HEADS WITH LARGE VALVES AND O RING BLOCK JUST IN CASE THIS DON'Y DO THE JOB THAT WAY I WILL RUN NOS. HATE TO RUN A VAC PUMP DUE TO THE FACT I THINK THEY ARE UGLY. THANKS again larry
