I have a 72 Vette and I am replacing all the hoses in the vacuum system. Where is the best place to start replacing the vacuum systems hoses? Also are those Dr. Rebuild Vacuum system hose kits as good as people say they are? If not, who makes a good vacuum system hose replacement kit?

Your local hardware or auto parts store makes a great vacuum hose replacement system and it is quite siimple and inexpensive.

Step 1: Buy 15 feet of the various diameter rubber hoses you want to replace.
Step 2: Remove one hose at a time, cut the replacement you need and install it.
Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until you have completed the project.

Total cost should be less than $25 and you can complete your project one hose at a time.

Good luck.

Some of your hoses are connected together with T-fittings and they are likely to snap when you remove the hoses from them, especially the ones that go to the headlight boxes.
Your local auto parts store should have replacement fittings, so if you break them, think of them as a potential leak that you just avoided. They may have been cracked already.

if you split the rubber on the tees with a knife and then turn it they will come off easily. mike

You might get on Dr. Rebuild's site and read what he has to say about vac hose kits and see how other kits measure up. Of particular interest is the tubing O.D.size when installed on a 3 port switch. Charles
